Our Interactive Data Real-Time Services business provides real-time global market data and managed solutions to financial institutions, redistributors and online financial portals worldwide. Interactive Data Fixed Income Analytics provides market-leading fixed income analytics. eSignal provides streaming real-time financial market information and decision-support tools to assist active traders, individual investors and investment community professionals in their analysis of securities traded on all major markets in the US as well as a number of major international markets.

 The customers of the Interactive Data Pricing and Reference Data business include most of the world’s leading financial institutions, including banks, brokerage houses, mutual funds, money management firms and insurance companies. Through its Real-Time Services business, the Company provides real-time global market data and managed solutions to financial institutions, redistributors and online financial portals worldwide. Interactive Data Real-Time Services markets a suite of services that ranges from a consolidated, low latency data feed, to customized financial information systems. The Interactive Data Fixed Income Analytics business provides analytics to institutional fixed income portfolio managers. The eSignal business provides financial information and market scanning and decision-support software to more than 60,000 investment community professionals, active traders, and individual investors. In 2007, Interactive Data Corporation generated total revenues of $689.6 million.

7.When and why did Pearson merge its financial information business (called FT Interactive Data at the time) with Data Broadcasting Corporation?
 Immediately prior to the merger, FT Interactive Data (now known as Interactive Data Pricing and Reference Data) was indirectly wholly owned by Pearson plc (NYSE: PSO), the international media company. FT Interactive Data merged with Data Broadcasting Corporation on February 29, 2000. The merger was designed to create a powerful end-to-end solution provider of critical, real-time, actionable financial data and information services for both institutional and retail investors. Data Broadcasting’s name was changed to Interactive Data on June 15, 2001 to take advantage of the Company’s brand equity in the institutional investor marketplace and to more accurately reflect its current business model.

 Interactive Data Corporation is majority-owned by Pearson plc. Pearson currently owns approximately 62% of Interactive Data's issued and outstanding shares of common stock. Pearson’s businesses include the Financial Times Group, Pearson Education and the Penguin Group.
